View Full Version : LPRng doesn't print a bannerpage...

Hi,

in the network I have to "play" a sysadmin on, we use a network printer and LPRng to manage it. The "most actual" problem is that it just doesn't print a banner page, although it's set in the /etc/printcap and in the lpd.conf (the :ab flag is on an the :sh (suppress header/banner) flag is off, too). There is a shell script that creates the page, so I thought there is a problem with the script itself, but as I wrote my own script (echo $USER | text2ps), really as simple as it could be :), the problem is exactly the same, even when I take just any PS file as a bannerpage. I tried to activate the logging (:lf flag), but the defined logfile (/var/log/lpd) stays empty, just as the file /var/spool/lpd/lp. So I really don't know what I can do... (www.lprng.com does not really help, respectively really doesn't help :))

Anybody a suggestion what it could be?

Thanks,

ETh

P.S. I didn't know what settings I should post here, exept of these I listed above, so when you want to know more about the settings, ask what ones it should be...
