Software update error

Hi

Following a power failure during an update procedure, I rebooted my fc8 system and now it won't do updates. I get the following error:-

SYSTEM IS NOT RECEIVING UPDATES
Your system is currently not receiving software updates. Please check your network connection and/or set up software updates.

My network connection seems fine as I can use the internet directly from that machine or connect to the mail and webservers hosted on that machine from a remote pc.

I have tried manually to run software updater but it will not connect.

Any suggestions please

first of all do this in Terminal
yum clean all login as root

Ok, completed yum clean all and then tried a software update with no success.

Sorry, a little premature there, it just took quite a while for it to complete but has now successfully completed.
