View Full Version : boot up font

When my laptop boots up the font is pretty big, nothing ridiculous mind you, but it would be much more useful to have smaller text in order to see more info as the machine boots up.

Can somebody give me a pointer as to where this is configured? Does it have to do with setting a resolution value in Grub? Or is there some kind of framebuffer setting that needs to be set?

yes, set a resolution value in grub. See http://spblinux.de/2.0/grub.htm

Thanks for the link! From there I read that all I need to do was append a particular value at the end of the "kernel" line in the menu.lst file, in my case vga=791 for 1024x768 mode. Much nicer to view :-)
