View Full Version : F8: Broken links in /etc/X11/fontpath.d

I saw the article on the main page regarding .rpmnew and .rpmsave files and decided to clean mine up. I just upgraded from F7 to F8 (not a clean install) and thought it would be a good time. I had no .rpmsave files, but many .rpmnew. Most had no changes so I deleted them. /etc/X11/fs has config and config.rpmnew which have a significant difference:

# where to look for fonts
catalogue = /usr/share/X11/fonts/misc:unscaled,

# where to look for fonts
catalogue = catalogue:/etc/X11/fontpath.d

config.rpmnew appears to make use of the /etc/X11/fontpath.d directory which, based on the date, appears to have been created when I upgraded to F8. fontpath.d just contains a bunch of symlinks which point to files in /usr/share/X11/fonts. BUT, there are three that are broken:

xorg-x11-fonts-100dpi:unscaled:pri=30 -> /usr/share/X11/fonts/100dpi:unscaled
xorg-x11-fonts-75dpi:unscaled:pri=20 -> /usr/share/X11/fonts/75dpi:unscaled
xorg-x11-fonts-misc:unscaled:pri=10 -> /usr/share/X11/fonts/misc:unscaled

Two questions:
1. Should config.rpmnew be used instead?

2. How can I fix the broken links?

I did a clean install of F8 as a vm under VMWare Server, so I saw two things...config is part of xorg-x11-fonts-xfs and the config.rpmnew above is the current file.

The other thing I saw is that, even on the clean install of F8, there are broken links in /etc/X11/fontpath.d.

Can someone address this?
