Hi,

Whenever I try to recompile the kernel source installed by kernel-devel rpm, I get all kinds of errors as some Makefile missing etc. However, if I download from the kernel.org, then it compiles without any problem.

Why does the default kernel-devel source not compile smoothly like kernel.org source code?

Thanks

kernel-devel is NOT the kernel source code. It's only the header files, makefiles and scripts you need to buols kernel modules & such. The entire kernel source is much larger.
