Hello:

I've been seeing some similar yum/kyum/yumex problems lately. Try "yum clean all" first (you can do it from one of the kyum menus/buttons) and/or disable livna repo(s) temporarily (also can be done with a click of the checkbox in kyum repos tab).

Vince

Disable/delete livna-development.repo - unless you plan on compiling software from source code, you don't need it.

Also, the above commands you ran in post #6 removed all livna repos from your machine, but failed to re-install them ("the package is already installed") - command should have been:
rpm -Uvh --replacepkgs --replacefiles http://rpm.livna.org/livna-release-7.rpm

Re-install livna-release-7.rpm with this command, then disable the livna-devel.repo (and all other *-devel repos while you're at it, assuming you don't plan on compiling stuff soon), then re-try:

yum clean all
yum update

I can't get updates either. This is what I got when I ran yum update:

well, seems it's working.. sorry for a delayed response,i have been working over windows for past couple of days...
well,i tried the above things and things seem to have started working 4 me, as it looks at the 1st glance...... after following the above commands, my system is now updating with a 2GB download,of course in the shell(after the command yum update).
i, will give the exact details as soon as the update process finishes..

2GB!? Must be a recent/fresh install, and/or with a lot of extra software...and I thought I had too many goodies! The point is, when you have that much software installed, the risk of a broken update increases dramatically. I notice that you have the yum-skipbroken plugin, but I think you have to actually call it for it to work: yum --skipbroken update. If the update fails, try that; also, I suggest editing /etc/yum.conf so that the line reads: metadata_expire=10800 -this will give you 3 hours (instead of default 1800=30 minutes) before cache expires - then if the update chokes, you won't be faced with re-downloading everything again, since 'yum clean all' wipes out the download cache.

Of course, if the update succeeds, you're good to go....

Good Luck,
Vince

[root@localhost ~]#Not sure about this one - that file (/var/cache/yum/updates-testing/mirrorlist.txt) is not owned by any package, but it's for the fedora-updates-testing repo, so it's not related to Livna repo. You can disable the updates-testing repo (/etc/yum.repos.d/fedora-updates-testing.repo), or if you really want to play with the absolute latest releases, here's mine (/var/cache/yum/updates-testing/mirrorlist.txt); copy-and-paste:

Also, can i change the /etc/yum.conf file for a longer update cache, while the update is still running??

Hlingler
7th November 2007, 09:19 PM
a_sids: I don't see a problem with the output you posted in Post #16, except that perhaps one or more of the mirrors went off-line, or it's contents changed during the (very long) update process; if the update succeeds(ed) by fetching the packages from another mirror, which it appears to be doing ("Trying other mirror."), no problem. And yes, you can edit the file during the update process, however, yum will not re-read the altered config file until the current transaction is complete and another new yum command is issued (the existing /etc/yum.conf file is loaded into RAM when yum is first invoked).

deweese: I may have jumped the gun: I got that exact same error message when I tried a manual update just now, so I restored that file with the file I posted previously - then got the same error for /var/cache/yum/fedora-debuginfo/mirrorlist.txt; however, it seems that that mirrorlist file was automatically replaced during the update process, because I just ignored the second error and went ahead with a "yum clean all" then "yum update", and got no errors (and a rather long list of updates...). So all seems well for me at the moment....

Regards,
V

EDIT: The update went flawless for me, including new kernel 2.6.23.1-21.fc7, so I guess there's no real problem with those "no valid mirrorlist" messages - just ignore them, 'yum clean all' again, then re-run 'yum list updates'. I am curious to know if your update succeeded, a_sids....
