Problem with making not-keyboard characters in text-editor Gedit by typing 3-digit ASCII-code or 4-character Unicode: these do not work in Gedit, you get nothing. In a Windows or even DOS text editor you can type Alt-left + ASCII-number and you see the demanded character. How can I do this in Gedit or another Linux text editor (I use Fedora Core 6 as OS)? thanks for information, Hubert

install gedit-plugins and activate the character map plugin.

Or use Emacs.
