View Full Version : Networking annoyance

Hello, I've been using Fedora for quite long though - although there's one thing I never got fixed.
Whenever I want to connect to an encrypted network I have to enter my password (for the keyring). This is very annoying as I had to enter my password every time I booted.

As a work around I added my network to the Wireless Settings of wlan0 (in the network tool). It automatically connects while booting now, but when I want to connect to another network I have to enable the NetworkManager service and then connect.

Is there an easier way of doing this? Ideally I would like fedora to scan for my network and connect to it (in run level 3, so while its still booting) and if it can't find my network allow me to connect to other ones once I'm on the desktop.

Thank you!

The mods will probably move it...But any way, do a search here for "automating keyring" if you are using gnome these steps will work. But if you kde your SOL as the steps will not work....

KDE requires a different approach to get it working.....
