I use KDE and I'm a total noob in building softwares and packages. Now, the problem is that I really really really want to have KDE4 on my F8 installation. So, I thought of building it myself but I have no idea what I should do!? Can anyone help me with that? As I said, I'm a total noob in this so please be patient and tell me step by step.

Thanks tons!

First, you wait for the release of KDE4. The targeted release date (http://techbase.kde.org/Schedules/KDE4/4.0_Release_Schedule#December_11.2C_2007:_Targeted _KDE_4.0_Release_Date) is December 11th, but slipping later is very likely. Then you just follow the build instructions (http://techbase.kde.org/Getting_Started/Build/KDE4) if you don't want to wait for someone else to build RPM packges for easy installation.

At this point, best to wait. The following comments appear in the latest KDE4 base that is available as an extra for F7

This package does not include the KDE 4 versions of applications which are
provided by KDE 3 because of file and configuration setting conflicts.
WARNING: This is a beta version. It probably has many bugs left.
Also, the API and ABI are NOT fully stable yet (soft freeze only).

Note that kdebase4 does NOT include the KDE 4 Desktop (kdebase-workspace, i.e.
Plasma, KWin version 4 etc.), which is still too incomplete and unstable for
daily use and which would conflict with KDE 3.
