Hi,

I have installed Fedora 7 64 bit on my compaq laptop. Every thing is working fine. I have a Samsung mp3 player (capacity 2Gb) YP-U3.

When i connect it to my system it is detected and even mounted. But the problem lies when i try to transfer data or delete data.

My observation

1) From the moment the player is detected as a usb-stick and mounted its LED blinks for only 5 mins within which if a copy a song or delete one the changes get reflected.

2) After 5 mins the player LED stops blinking which indicates that there is no exchange of data and it switches to charging mode.

Any one with a work around or a solution.

from what i know about this problem, the yp u3 is not a mass storage device (despite the fact that the box says it is)

i'm having the same trouble... anyone have any advice?

Hi,

I have a YP-U3 and use it with amarok. Not sure eaxactly what your problem is. how do you transfer your data to your device ?
please have a look at the following : http://lobzang.free.fr/tip005.html

once I had a problem and I had to re-initialize the device, now everything works fine.

hi to all,

my own experiences with the samsung yp u3 ( it was a gift on christmas.... )

use it with gnomad2 ( yum install gnomad2 )

or if you want to use the yp u3 as a mass storage device try to flash the firmware from MTP to UMS

look at this link for more information: http://beranger.org/index.php?page=diary&2007/12/10/15/14/55-make-your-samsung-yp-u3-j-linux-

if the link doesn't work try www.beranger.org and search with samsung yp u3
