ahhh sudo is not setup in fedora by default. sudo is a way of issuing a root command without logging in as root. You can either setup the sudo function or login as root first then issue the command without sudo like this:

su -
mv /usr/share/pixmaps/pidgin /usr/share/pixmaps/pidgin.old

If you do want to setup sudo do this:

su -
system-config-users
and add yourself to the group "wheel" and then
(still logged in as root)

visudo
then look for the line that looks like

#%wheel ALL=(ALL) NOPASSWD: ALL
remove the # then save it
(use insert to start editing then esc then :x to save and exit)

A group with name 'wheel' already exists.
