Hey all,

I have downloaded Java 1.6 and saved it to desktop Self Extracting file, I then installed it and for some reason I can't delete the icon fom the desktop, it has a round circle around it with a pen through the center.

When I delete it it says "Cannot move "/home/Streets/...e1.6.0_02" to the trash because you do not have permissions to change it or its parent folder"

Even when I type in the SU pasword in the terminal I can't delete it.

Anyone know how I can delete this or uninstall it?

Cheers,
Streets.

do this open console and do:

su -
(enter root password)
cd /home/Streets/Desktop/
chown Streets filename

then do:

chmod 755 filename

that should give you permissions to delete it

Just checking, but when you say you typed "su" into the terminal and still couldn't delete... you DID try to delete through the terminal and not using the mouse/GUI didn't you? As in:

su
password here
rm /home/username/Desktop/jre*.*

That should work on the java file - done it hundreds of times :)
