Hello,

I am pretty new to the whole Linux world but I am slowly getting into it. Makes me wonder why I ever used Windows!

I have a question. I have a Windows Vista laptop which appears to have a bad HD. There are a lot of data on there I would like to retrieve. I had a copy of Fedora Live and thought if I could boot using this DVD I may be able to view the Windows partition. Is this doable? If so, anyone knows how I would go about doing this? Any help would be great since the data is pretty key.

Thank you in advance.

I don't know if fedora has ntfs support on the Live CD but I have read that Knoppix does

http://www.knopper.net/knoppix/index-en.html

if that dat is that important, be careful! Be sure to only use the read only mode.

Good Luck,
Pat Jr.

Fedora Live CD supports ntfs with the inclusion of fuse and ntfs-3g.
