Hey there guys,

Viewing the attached image, you can see a window that I guess was opened when rhythmbox refused to play a cd I had inserted. It's been there for two days and I can't seem to get rid of it.

Anyone know of a way to force a window to close short of restarting my session?

thanks,

xkill ??? Additionally, does an associated process show up in top?

Howdy sir and thanks very much for the reply,

I don't see any associated process in top.

I'm not sure how I would get xkill to kill a single instance of a window ??

thanks,

just type xkill into a terminal then move the xkill cursor ( Skull and cross-bones ) to the window you wish to kill and left click the mouse

Hmmm.

CLick the close box, then the title bar rapidly twice in a row. It should then bring up the force-kill dialog box, and you can force kill it.

Either that or open the system monitor, find it in the process list (it will probably be listed as "zombie" and right click it, then select force quit.

Alternatively, on your Gnome panel, install the force quit applet, then use that. (right click panel, select add to panel, select force quit from the dialog box, then fire at will.

Morning Schwim.

just be careful where you click it ( it can kill the desktop or taskbar if you miss the window due to too much beer or a c*ap mouse :( )

Yeah. It's the silly looking treadmill wheel that has me worried though.

Just for completeness, in XFCE use Ctrl+Alt+Esc, which will bring up the skull & crossbones.
