View Full Version : not replacing existing default route via 192.168.1.254

i have tried to setup the internet connection , i have speedtouch Adsl modem 585 ( ethernet) modem , on fedora 6 core , i got successed in that

i have typed the command

pppoe-start

i got connected

but am not able to browse any page

i have checked the log messages and i found the following

pppd 2.4.4 started by root , uid 0
Using interface ppp0
Connect : ppp0 <--> /dev/pts/2
PPP session is 2613 (0xa35)
PAP authentication succeeded
not replacing existing default route via 192.168.1.254
local ip address 82.114.184.54
remote ip address 82.114.184.1



i have tried to delete the defualt route using the command

route del default

and i followed that by another command

route add default gw 192.168.1.254


but am still getting the same "not replacing existing default route via 192.168.1.254"


please help me am a newbie to linux
