I am trying to configure lame a codec for mplayer and after decompressing the tarball I try to configure with the command sudo ./configure --prefix=/usr
I get a configure: error: no acceptable C compiler found in $path
what should I do to correct this and complete the configuration and proceed to make and install?
thanks,
fryemo

tried yum install and it says parsing package install arguments and then says nothing to do
I ran into this with redhat 9 before. something to do with the compiler.
any other ideas? I am stumped.

you need the repo from livna
http://rpm.livna.org/rlowiki/

be root:
rpm -i http://rpm.livna.org/livna-release-7.rpm

then you can search again for lame-mp3
yum search lame-mp3

after that you cna install it
