Hi list...

I get into trouble for installing FC7 under VMware server 1.0.1

VMware says that Fedora is not (and will not be) officially supported, however, they supports kernels 2.6.x, which is quite contradictory, but still...

Anyhow, I managed to install FC7 under VM Workstation (as kernel 2.6.x) and decided to move it to production on VM Server. I tried to reinstall from scratch, but with no luck.

The VM definition went ok, FC7 booted, and the install went ok until it tried to partition the disk : there was no partition available...

Has anyone experience with installing FC7 under VM Server ?

Cheers

PS: this issue has already been posted on the VMware forums and on the Fedora mailing list, but with no useful answer so far :(

Case closed.
Here is the copy of the pose from the VM forum

Create a new virtual machine and select "Custom" (Not typical) when creating the VM. When prompted for the disk controller type, select "IDE"

You should now be able to install Fedora Core 7 in the VM. There is an issue with the Kernel version that you are using that does not like LSI Logic used in the VM.
