My operating system is fedora core 7

I tried to uninstall the iptables. but it failed. :confused:

When i execute command "rpm -qa | grep -i iptables"
It is displayed as follow
iptables-1.3.7-2
iptables-ipv6-1.3.7-2

When i execute command "rpm -e iptables-1.3.7-2"

It is displayed as follow:

error: Failed dependencies:
iptables = 1.3.7 is needed by (installed) iptables-ipv6-1.3.7-2.i386
iptables is needed by (installed) iptstate-1.4-1.1.2.2.i386
iptables >= 1.2.8 is needed by (installed) system-config-securitylevel-tui-1.7.0-1.fc7.i386

I have solved the problem.

you can execute the following the command.



yum remove inptables

Yeah - I saw this too. I think there is something wrong with the gui config program.

# service iptables stop
removes the current firewall rules kept in /etc/sysconfig/iptable*

# chkconfig --level 345 iptables off
prevents it on the next reboot.

If you made/loaded your own rules you need to remove these w/ the iptables command.

Your removal of the package is pretty extreme IMO. Also you should look into the ip6tables package.

What you said is very right and I have removed iptables and dependencies package. But I need install iptables.

What will i download from the site? And i feel so troubled! :mad:

What are you trying to accomplish? It seems to me that you are removing iptables, just to reinstall it again?

Because I wanna recompile iptables resource. There are some problems about my iptables.
