Hello All,

I have a couple of plain old ide disks
in the past they always showed up as hda, hdb, etc.
now with F7 they're sda, sdb. etc.
I thought sd indicated a SCSI disk
what gives??

The way drives are treated has changed from FC6 to F7. Everything shows up as sd* now.

well, that splains that

how bout this
what's the status of NTFS
I have a new USB drive that is currently NTFS, I'll probably change that but for now that is what it has
when I plug it in F7 sees and and mounts it read/write and I can access it fine
haven't tried to write anything to it
is writing still a no-no?
I thought NTFS support was read only

Thanks
Dave

NTFS-3G (which is installed by default in F7 and optionally in FC6) enables full read/write support. There was an older kernel driver (which I don't believe was even included in Fedora's kernel) that was read-only, but NTFS-3G goes both ways. I haven't had any problems reading from and writing to my NTFS partition (internal drive).
