Hi there! I'm looking for some help.
Basically, I co-run a gaming site that wants to be "dedicated" to giving the latest patches, map packs, trailers etc.

Now we own a dedicated server running Fedora 6 and Plesk.
Everything installed we installed ourselves.
Anyway! Onto my problem

We always run into a problem.
people LOVE using download accelerators, which eat up bandwidth etc (you know what i mean)
and we want a file server with the ability to limit connnections(For Downloads Only!) to 1. and a nice que system would be great!
however. i cannot find any linux applications that do this.
I saw 1 site that used samba to distribute its downloads.
you'd download from http://webaddy.ext:20917/filename.ext
(not correct port there) and this is similar to what i wanted to do!
are there any applications, EVEN close that do this?
Thanks
Andrew/Neo

Note: I am sorry if this is not in the correct section

Its easy to do with a ftp server, pureftp is what i use, it has plenty of options to limit connections per IP n stuff like that, i dunno about a que though.

have you set the max upload connections in the httpd.conf

have ftp for files with a max connections per ip as 1 or 2 or whatever

and leave httpd to do what it likes, then link all files to the ftp server insted of the httpd server
