i have the livna fglrx driver installled, xgl, and beryl. I think the problem has something to do with my xorg.conf file, but i dont know.

Anything i should change? i know how to use vi and have a Kubuntu liveCd handy.

EDIT: i just remembered, i haven't updated my system fully yet, it there any way to only update packages that start with a certain letter?(with a CLI?)
My comp hangs when i try all at once. --NVM.

You can to a partial update with "yum update 'X*' or whatever.

Please give me a hint - what is a 'DE' ? I've been using X11 since the Athena project first released it (actually I used some pre-releases) and 'DE' is not in my vocabulary. I assume it means that X11 never came up on your screen.

For a start you could comment out all the "Options" in the "Device" section and try, but there is a limited chance of that working.

Next you could tell us what hardwware you have and if you saves the "xorg.conf" that you had before this.

DE = Desktop Environment. the system hangs at startx/startXgl/kdeinit/(k|g|x)dm etc...

new xorg.conf... doesn't work.

Yeah, there's something wrong with fglrx.
i tried using an incompatible kernel, and my comp works perfectly.
