I just want to be clear about the status of centrino wireless on fedora7 before I consider trialling it on mylaptop - I hope folk can confirm/correct my understanding of the status quo:

iwl3945 only seems to work on some installations where the chipset is present. If it does not work, then a user who just wants a reliable working wifi should blacklist it, and instead install the older ipw3945. Is this correct?

Related questions:

What is wrong with iwl3945? Where is the central bug report that describes/tracks this?

Is a fix in the works for those of us who want to test it?

Is iwl3945 currently slower or less reliable on platforms where it *does* work?

Yes relating to the iwl3945. Bug is here.

There is a howto in the howto section re-posted by me from another site on how to do it in F7.
