I'm coming to Fedora from another distro. No problems printing with my HP 1020 there. I'm somewhat new to Linux. The printer is listed as installed on USB port 1. The driver shows as installed. When I send a test page it shows in print jobs as "processing" but nothing prints. Same thing happens when I send a print job from any application. . What do I try next?

Hi,

I'm not quite sure why no one replied to this post. Maybe I don't know my way around this forum yet. Anyway I found the answer. Some printers require a special driver which can be built from tarball
"foo2zjs.tar.gz" The file and the directions for compiling it can be found at http://foo2zjs.rkkda.com

cackersoHey there cackerso. Don't feel insulted because no one responded. Maybe no one knew the answer to your question, or the post just wasn't old enough for someone with experience with USB printers to reply. There's a ton of excellent help here. Many experienced users with a willingness to help. I certainly would have responded had I known something about USB printers. Stick around. You'll learn a lot about Fedora and Linux in general here.
