ok, so i am on a monitor... its an old CRT
its like a 17 or 19 inch
and anyways, i know it can have higher resolutions (2048xwhatever)
because i have done it in windows
i dont want HIGH resolution on linux
just like 1024x768 or 1280x1024
but right now... all i see in the resolution choices are 800x600 or 640x480
even tho when i installed it was at 1280
and i had it at 1024 for a while
and one time i plugged in a different monitor, then i plugged this one back in, and BAM, 800x600
i need this fixed, i cant operate like this
please help.
thank you.

Go to the menu the system -> Administration -> display and change the monitor to the specific monitor you own. Also change the resolution in there. Then log out and log back in. Go to menu -> preferences -> screen resolution and change it. There is a reasonably chance this will work.
