Hello all,
I have just installed a clean install of Fedora 7.
=== System ===
Asus K8v Deluxe mainboard
AMD64 3200 CPU
2GB RAM
1 x 150GB WD Raptor connected to mobo onboard SATA RAID
1 x 200GB HDD connected to onboard SATA
1 x 120GB HDD connected to onboard SATA
[root@localhost chris]# uname -ir
2.6.21-1.3194.fc7 i386
The OS is installed onto the Raptor drive which is working absolutely fine. The problem is that my two SATA drives are missing. At boot, when RedHat nash is loading I get the following:
ata1: port failed to respond (30 secs, Status 0x80)
ata2: port failed to respond (30 secs, Status 0x80)
=== dmesg Output ===
[root@localhost chris]# dmesg | grep ata1
ata1: SATA max UDMA/133 cmd 0x0001d000 ctl 0x0001c802 bmdma 0x0001b800 irq 17
ata1: SATA link up 1.5 Gbps (SStatus 113 SControl 300)
ata1: port is slow to respond, please be patient (Status 0x80)
ata1: port failed to respond (30 secs, Status 0x80)
[root@localhost chris]# dmesg | grep ata2
ata2: SATA max UDMA/133 cmd 0x0001c400 ctl 0x0001c002 bmdma 0x0001b808 irq 17
ata2: SATA link up 1.5 Gbps (SStatus 113 SControl 300)
ata2: port is slow to respond, please be patient (Status 0x80)
ata2: port failed to respond (30 secs, Status 0x80)
=== Modules ===
[root@localhost chris]# lsmod | grep ata
ata_generic 12229 0
pata_via 15429 0
sata_promise 16069 1
sata_via 15941 0
libata 115417 4 ata_generic,pata_via,sata_promise,sata_via
scsi_mod 137549 5 sr_mod,sg,usb_storage,libata,sd_mod
I've seen a few posts relating to this kind of error but mostly relating to earlier kernel versions. As it stands it is a bit of a show stopper for setting up my PVR if I can't get my storage online.
Interestingly I was unable to install Ubuntu at all due to the same error messages, disabling the RAID controller in the BIOS instantly made the 2 drives available but then I couldn't use the OS drive. Likewise disabling the SATA controller gets rid of the error messages but doesn't fix the issue.
It looks like the two have trouble working at the same time. Has anyone seen this or have any suggestions for a fix? I would be most grateful!
TIA
Chris
