Hi,

As I understand Fedora 7 is officially out and available for download. I want a 32+ bit Fedora 7 and a dvd (3 something gb so that I can burn to a single dvd) image so I went to this page

ftp://mirror.stanford.edu/pub/mirrors/fedora/linux/releases/7/Fedora/i386/iso/

but I am struggling as to what to choose, there are 3 items here as follows

05/27/2007 02:42PM 2,900,602,880 F-7-i386-DVD.iso
05/27/2007 02:42PM 101,816,320 F-7-i386-rescuecd.iso
05/27/2007 09:40PM 359 SHA1SUM

and I think I should be going for the 1st one which is 05/27/2007 02:42PM 2,900,602,880 F-7-i386-DVD.iso

Am I right?

Thanks a lot...

I don't see the Fedora7 release at Stanford as yet. Check out other mirrors here: http://mirrors.fedoraproject.org/publiclist/Fedora/7/i386/ The correct ones will be listed as "7" (for instance, Network Startup Resource Center). What you were going to download was the RC2 Testing version, which is close to Final, but not quite.

Thanks what about this then,
ftp://limestone.uoregon.edu/fedora/linux/7/Fedora/i386/iso/

But how did you know that it was RC2? I was a bit confused as both the url have almost same type of files/iso images with same names and size.

The correct ones will be listed as "7"

Something like this right?

The key is the 5/27 release date. It should be 5/30. Rahul has said that the two are almost identical so it's no great loss to install the 5/27, but the 5/30 is the actual Final. And yes; "7" is the one you want.

Hmmm...well, it looks like some are 5/29. Here's one: ftp://limestone.uoregon.edu/fedora/linux It is the same one I pointed to in Post #2 - and I guess that you pointed to in Post #3. Sorry about that - you had it right. The two were so close that the post date for Fed7 was the release date for RC2.

Thanks a lot. I am sorry as well as I got so worried about the date and had all the negativity in my head. I made you look hard for it. Apolozies for that.
