View Full Version : F7 kdm gdm xdmcp remote logins (eg Xming)

In case anyone is interested in KDE xdmcp logins on FC7. I've found I can't get a remote login using Xming to work using kdm - the login recycles to the login screen - and the following is logged

kernel: kdm[3800]: segfault at 0000000000000000 rip 000000333de7718

The work around is to install gdm and alter /etc/sysconfig/desktop to use GDM as the DISPLAYMANAGER. Providing gdm is configured to offer a plain login to remote users, then a KDE session can be started using Xming. Gdm non-plain logins also fail, so perhaps it has has something to do with KDE fancy login - alternatives aren't well documented so it's hard to experiment.

I was going to raise a fault - but F7 isn't available in bugzilla, and the redhat bugzilla doesn't play well with F7 firefox or konqueror.
