View Full Version : Screen Resolution & Desktop Effects

2nd June 2007, 06:50 PM
I have installed Fedora 7 on my PC, and it correctly detected the native resolution of my monitor which is 1280x1024. Then, when I enabled "Desktop Effects" (System -> Preferences -> Look and Feel), after rebooting the computer, the screen resolution was wrongly set at 1024x768. But, after disabling "Desktop Effects," and after further reboot, the screen resolution want back to normal again at 1280x1024. Is there any way that I can get "Desktop Effects" to work with the correct resolution of my monitor? I have looked at the "xorg.conf" file to see if I can edit it to correct the problem, and I am even more confused. The "xorg.conf" file remains unchanged in both situations, and in either case, there is no section named "Monitor" there where the screen resolution of the monitor is to be identified. My "xorg.conf" file in both cases is as follows:

# Xorg configuration created by pyxf86config

Section "ServerLayout"
Identifier "Default Layout"
Screen 0 "Screen0" 0 0
InputDevice "Keyboard0" "CoreKeyboard"

Section "InputDevice"
Identifier "Keyboard0"
Driver "kbd"
Option "XkbModel" "pc105"
Option "XkbLayout" "gb"

Section "Device"
Identifier "Videocard0"
Driver "radeon"

Section "Screen"
Identifier "Screen0"
Device "Videocard0"
DefaultDepth 24
SubSection "Display"
