i just tried to install firefox "yum install firefox" on F7. it began downloading from several different mirrors, timing out on each one... i don't know where to make suggestions, but wouldn't it be more practical if the downloads could just continue instead of starting over? or better yet, download from several mirrors at once? does anybody else think this would be a good idea? and where would i make this type of suggestion?

If I recall correctly from my brief trial of Ubuntu, the Synaptic package manager downloads packages in parallel. There is the apt-rpm port if you want to give it a try on Fedora, though I'm fairly certain it's no longer maintained. To install it

su -
yum install synaptic apt

it installed fine but when i tried "apt-get install firefox" it said their was an error importing the GPG keys and that it couldn't find the package firefox... i guess that's due to it no longer being maintained.

Actually it's probably due to you not having imported the GPG keys. Try the following

su -
rpm --import /etc/pki/rpm-gpg/*

that command ran without error, but i get the same response:

# rpm --import /etc/pki/rpm-gpg/*
# apt-get install firefox
You don't seem to have one or more of the needed GPG keys in your RPM database.
Importing them now...
Error importing GPG keys
Reading Package Lists... Done
Building Dependency Tree... Done
E: Couldn't find package firefox

The smart package manager downloads from multiple sources at once too.

No. Smart is another package manager (ie. YUM, APT).

If I remember correctly you can get it with

su -
yum install smart smart-gui

yum install smart-gui

Will get the one I am talking about.

Edit: Still type to slow
