View Full Version : Folder and Subfolder Permission

Hi all,

I'm a very new in Linux, currently i setting up a file server with samba, and i move my last NAS folder into this new samba file server, now i found that the permission of the folder are not correct and i change it to my own name, but when i access the subfolder i have being denied again, and i found that although i change the main folder under my own permission but all the sub folder are still remain the same, is it have more easy solution to change entire folder permission (include all subfolder) under me, if want change one by one i will be crazy because it contain more than thousand subfolder....please help me...!!! :confused: :confused: :confused: :( :( :( :(

chown username:groupname /path/to/files -R

the "-R" makes it recursive and sets the same thing for all included subdirectories.

Reporting the thread instead of harsh posts should be better. Let the forum staff be the bad guys instead of you...
