It appears there are two series of nvidia drivers 100.14.xx and 1.0-xxxx.
(See http://www.nvidia.com/object/linux_display_archive.html)
Can anyone explain this?

Thanks.

Does anyone have experience with the beta version? Does it crash often? Any deficiency noticed?

Its more than beta vs stable. With the new 100 series drivers, they are actually changing the versioning scheme. Check on their forums for more details.

I'm running beta 100.14.03 here with twinview, no problems to report. Apparently 100.14.06 is available now.

Whats the difference between kernel 2.6.17 and 2.6.18? New features. Thats generally what a new version means.
