http://news.softpedia.com/news/Creating-a-Local-Update-Repository-for-FC6-43559.shtml

that would help u to create a repository from ur dvd/cd locally. yum will let u install anything from the local repo then on.

u could also have the disk images instead of copying the individual files-just google for "creating yum repository from dvd"

Another method to install from dvd:

I edited /etc/yum.conf adding/modifying the reposdir line to keep it from going on the web

# PUT YOUR REPOS HERE OR IN separate files named file.repo
# in /etc/yum.repos.d
reposdir=/etc/yum.repos.phony
and adding a DVD repo section
[fc6-dvd]
name=FC6 i386 DVD
baseurl=file:/FC6DVD/
enabled=1
gpgcheck=0
I created a directory /FC6DVD and mounted the DVD on it like:

mkdir /FC6DVD
mount /dev/hdc /FC6DVDNOTE: /dev/hdc is the DVD on my system, and will probably be something different on you system. There may even be a /dev/dvd which could be used.

Cleanup installation metadata
yum clean all
yum update
To make it go on the web instead of using only the DVD, comment out the line (by putting a pound sign # in front of it)
reposdir=/etc/yum.repos.phonyTo take the DVD off-line for yum, under the DVD repos section, change
enabled=1to
enabled=0
