View Full Version : wireless ethernet and ndiswrapper

Hallo guys,
I have a wireless card ipw2200, when i check on the supported linux wireless cards it is listed, The drivers i get for my card are .exe binary package. Do i need to use ndiswrapper for a supported card, because ndiswrapper cant install the .exe drivers. Please help :confused:

No ! The ipw2200 driver already exists in the FC 5 & FC6 distribution. The ONLY thing you need is the proprietary Intel firmeware for the ipw2200.

Go to here http://ipw2200.sourceforge.net/firmware.php
and download the firmware and drop the several files into //lib/firmware

Then just turn on the NetworkManager and and NetworkManangerDispatcher services
(click Sytem->Admin..->Server Settings->Services) check the boxes next to the NetworkMan* lines and select File->Save Changes. Then select the lines and click "start" (both lines). On the upper panel you'll see a new icon. Try left & right clicking it - it's real obvious and works very well.


The ipw2200 works very well and the NetworkManager is great IMO.

Thanx stevea for your help but i still need some more.
After installing the firmware. I used yum install as instracted from the link you gave me. Then it successfuly installed. After which i ran the services but still cant get the icon you said please help some more.
