I've been searching for the last week and can't find anything.

I recently moved to Linux from Windows, so I'm something of a newbie.

I have several MS Windows mouse cursors that I really like. I would like to convert them from the .cur format for use in FC 6.

Does anyone have information on how to accomplish that?

Thank you,

Tom Kadlec

A quick Google search pointed to this tool. http://www.nongnu.org/icoutils/
Hope this helps. Never tried it. Let us now how it does.

Well, it took a bit of digging, but I think I've got it. ICOUTILS will convert MS Windows cursors to PNG files. Then use xcursorgen to convert the PNG files to cursors usable in KDE.

Left to determine: How the cursors relate to the theme - by name or some other connection?

Thanks for your help. I'll post the final results when I finally figure it out.

Most KDE installs default to /usr/share/icons/*********/cursors where ********* is the Theme used. Not all setup KDE the same but is a start. From here I would copy the cursors directory to a safe loaction. Then go into there and copy the file to the cursors directory naming it the same as the one it is replacing. Once all is set then you will need to restart X to make them change if I remember correctly. May not need a restart.
