We recently moved from Redhat to Fedora Core 6. now we just copied over the squid. conf file from Redhat where it has been working fine. The file does not compile if we use port 8080. we've changed that to 3128 but we can browse without passwords. i've attached the squid.conf file. could you kindly help me identify the source of my problem. is there anywhere else i need to check besides the configuration file?

i've just realised it could order of acls in squid.conf
if i use the following - users just browse without authenticating:
acl our_zal src 172.20.6.0/24 172.20.7.0/24
acl ncsa_users proxy_auth REQUIRED
http_access allow our_zal
http_access allow ncsa_users

and if i use
acl our_zal src 172.20.6.0/24 172.20.7.0/24
acl ncsa_users proxy_auth REQUIRED
http_access allow ncsa_users our_zal

users are authenticated by access is denied i.e i get
TCP_DENIED/407 1670 GET http://www.yahoo.com/ - NONE/- text/html

in access.log

where am i going wrong?
