Hello... Linux n00b here....
i was just wondering after my initial yum update of my fedora core 6 package, in the boot up grub menu i am getting two versions of the linux kernel. one is 2948 and the other is 2944... now i am wondering if its safe to remover the old linux kernel and if it is, how do i remove it?

You are better off keeping at least two kernels installed(this is the default if I remember correctly). If for some reason your system would not like the updated kernel you can boot into the old (working) kernel. It will automatically delete the oldest kernel when you update again.
