View Full Version : mencoder not encoding audio from Video Camera DVD

I have a Sony Handycam and using DVD-RW disks. I finalize a disk and put in PC drive.

I then run mencoder command such as:

mencoder dvd://1 -ovc lavc -lavcopts vcodec=mpeg4:vhq:vbitrate=694 -oac mp3lame -lameopts abr:br=128:vol=9 -o myvideo.avi

This instruction works fine for standard DVDs, and the encoded files have both audio and video. However with encoded files from the Handycam disk I only get video.

VLC shows me all the tracks on the DVD and plays them with both video and audio if I just access the standard DVD files. However neither mplayer or VLC output any audio when I play the encoded file. In fact, when I view the properties of the file in VLC, it only lists information on the video.

Any ideas what's wrong?
