Try /sbin/ifconfig

Because it's not in any of the directories in your PATH variable. Try running
'find / -name "ifconfig" -print' as root and add its directory to root's PATH
(export PATH=$PATH:<dir>). If it doesn't list anything then the command is not installed, so you'll have to get it off the net. If it is found, also make sure that it is executable.

Type /sbin/ifconfig to see your eth and lo addresses or use /sbin/ifconfig --help to see available options. If not go to /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts and you can see every eth and other items you could imagine.

Hope this helps
