Can anyone tell me what libvirtd is? I noticed that it's a new 'service' running on my FC6 system. I have installed some new toys in the last few days. Firestarter and Democracy are a couple that I installed. Maybe it's related to them. The service manager tells me nothing about it. Now I don't know if these commands are proper or useful, but this is what I did in an attempt to see what's related to libvirtd:

[glenn@dad ~]$ sudo yum provides firestarter | grep "libvirt"
[glenn@dad ~]$ sudo yum provides firestarter | grep "libvirtd"
[glenn@dad ~]$ sudo yum provides democracyplayer | grep "libvirt"
[glenn@dad ~]$ sudo yum provides democracyplayer | grep "libvirtd"

These returned nothing. Hope it was the correct way to do this. If not, chime in and correct me. By the way, searching Fedora Forum for the term libvirtd returned no hits and Google was pretty useless.

Hello:
glennzo, if you try yum list libvirt
or
yum info libvirt
you should get the information that you want.
I believe it's related to xen and virtualization ?

Summary: Library providing an API to use the Xen virtualization

Description:
This C library provides an API to use the Xen virtualization framework,
and the virsh command line tool to control virtual domains.

This gives me a clear answer, but I've never installed xen. Wonder what's up with that? Seve, as usual you come through again. You are clearly one of the more studious Fedora users. Thank you.
