I've installed FC6 and want to login with root accout remotely by telnet or xmanager
I know it's a counter-security requirement
but whatsoe'er I what to know how to, thanks for any response :)

telnet uses login which requires that the tty login device be listed in /etc/securetty . Usually the login pseudo tty is /dev/pts/1, /dev/pts/2, /dev/pts/3 ....

No clue what xmanager is.

For a more secure way you could look at vnc over ssh.

Yes, I can login with root account by telnet, but fail by XWindow. Thanks :)

I'm sorry, the xmanager I said means XWindow client running on Windows

BTW, I'm really a newbie in Linux Community, I don't know what tty means, could you give me an explanation about it, thx :)

I want to know how to configure for XWindow root login remotely

and I've add pts/1, /pts/2...pts/11 to /etc/securetty, but I don't know what "pts/<number>" means, please help me out

The easiest way to do Xwindows remotely is VNC. There are a lot of howto thread on the forum, just search.
