View Full Version : Firefox-2.0.0.3 - yum does not install it?

There excists Firefox-2.0.0.3 for Linux. Must it be installed from a tar-ball?

[root@localhost fossiili]# yum list firefox-2.0.0.3.
Loading "installonlyn" plugin
Setting up repositories
Reading repository metadata in from local files
[root@localhost fossiili]# yum install firefox-2.0.0.3.

its in the development repo, you should do...


yum --enablerepo development install firefox

I think this should work for you

I did "yum --enablerepo development install firefox ", restarted the computer and started Firefox again but it's still 1.5.0.10.

Strange, that Firefox ver. 2 is not included originally in Fedora Core 6, because it is in most other distros :(

Just download the latest version from Mozilla and extract it where ever you want, /opt/ is a good place then launch it

/opt/firefox/./firefox

change your menu items and preferences to use the new command and you're done, it's not hard. Worst case you'll need to copy your plugins over or just install them in your /home/.mozilla

If you want another alternative to Dies suggestion.

The proper syntax is as follows :

yum --enablerepo=development install firefox

FF 2.0 is not included in FC6 for the following reasons: Firefox 2.0 (http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Firefox2)
