In fedora, what is the best software for doing it, and which compression should I use? I don't want to lose quality, so 192 kbps would be ok. Can you please tell me which is the best way to rip cds to mp3 and not losing much quality?
Thank you!

The best audio CD ripper available for linux is cdparanoia. And as for compression, since you don't mention what compression you will be using, I assume that you will be use mp3, in which case your bet is the lame mp3 encoder. The most tested and generally transparent settings to use with lame is --preset standard. You may however use other settings depending on your requirements.

There are a number of GUI frontends that use both these programs, if you'd rather use GUI than CLI programs.
