View Full Version : SRPMS in the heirarchy of RPM tree?

I wsa going through the http://fedoraforum.org/forum/showthread.php?t=126183 the topic of RPMs-howto in the first few lines the author is mentioning about the SRPM which is supposed go in SRPM directory in the /usr/src/redhat/SRPM heirarchy what i couldn't understand is that i what is the SRPM if the source of the software of which the RPM is to be build goes in the SOURCE directory in the same heirarchy of directory i.e /usr/src/redhat/SOURCES.

When you build a RPM package with "rpmbuild -ba" a new SRPM package is created as well and it goes to the SRPMS directory.

should SRPM be downloaded.

and if it is buid through rpmbuild -ba does the SRPM still gets build.

That's what I just wrote. If you don't want the SRPM, use "rpmbuild -bb".
