So I've got FC 6 up and running the way I want it (httpd/named/smtp/imaps/etc)... now my BRAND FRIGGIN new WD drive is failing - each day there are more bad sectors and read/write time-outs. The "new" replacement drive is on the way as I'm 2 days out of best buy return policy (I thought $75 for 250 gb was a good deal... oh well)

As these sectors have failed they've taken some key files with `em. RPM is corrupted as is YUM, etc...

So my question to the community is this... what is the best way to move all config files and data to the new HD and restore those files?

1) GHOST HD->HD then run repair from FC DVD?

2) Fresh install -> copy /etc /var /home to new HD?

3) Collect Underpants

4) * Your ideas *

5) Profit

Thanks for any input.

put any personal data that is invaluable on removable media such as a dvd...then just start over. You dont want to carry these problems over to a new install.

I agree. Backup what you can to an external drive or flash drive. Start from scratch.
