Can I use apt-get as a packagemanager with Fedora 6 ?

Can Fedora 6 use both yum and apt-get installed together at the same time ?

Can I chose to use yum or apt-get ?

I have, mainly because Synaptic is so nice.

I even have smart-update installed, but am not using it.

What you want to avoid is mixing repositories.

Whatever package managers you use, I think it is safest to only use 1 at a time. Each package manager has to modify the RPM database, to keep track of the software installed or removed from your system. It does this by locking the RPM database, IIRC.

So, I think you will have problems with running different package managers together at the same time.

You might like to take a look at smart package manager. It uses the smart-gui. You will need to install it first, via one of the other package managers . It can be found under Kmenu->System->Smart Package Manager after it has been installed.
