I had installed Adobe Reader 7.0 on FC6 (uname -r = 2.6.19-1.2895.fc6) When launching from menu it would not start, so I started it in my console and saw that I was in an endless loop with the message of: "expr: syntax error" just indefinitely scrolling. Googling led me to a post on LinuxPackages. The link to the post is:


I did as stated in post and acroread now works like a champ.

I ave the same problem , I added two line (but I lost it!) at end of file acrored and now when i type acroread kpdf appear! I tried to uninstall and install both acroread and kdegraphic severl time but the problem is keeping across
..... OK could you tell me what you did exactly because that post is unclear for me! (I am not a newby but neither a poweruser)

Try this link instead, it's a little more clearer.

Also if you don't have sudo setup on your system, you will have to su to root to edit this file.
$ su -
Password : whatever password you gave to root at install.
