For your public ip (from outside your network):
go to www.whatismyip.org

For your ip inside your network, type
ifconfig
and look where it says inet addr:

Depending on your network setup, these might be the same.

Hmmm.

Not on an F9 box right now, so just guessing, but try right clicking the network manager icon, and selecting connection information. Your machine IP address should be right there.

ifconfig at a command prompt?

if using Linux open a terminal and as root (su -) enter ifconfig using Windows from the command prompt enter ipconfig.

/sbin/ifconfig
You do NOT need to (and therefore SHOULD NOT) use root to run this.

Hmmmm.

Ok. On the F9 box now. The GUI method I described above works just fine. No muss, no fuss, no terminal, no root privileges.

However, for the sake of building comfort and familiarity with using the terminal, I'd try the other methods listed here as well.

Hmm I must be spending too much time in vista and not enough in fedora.
