Just upgraded to flashplayer 9 with yum. Previously flashplayer worked fine on youtube, and other similar sites. Occasonally I would run into sties (such www.teteaclaque.tv) where I did not get the video, but got audio. So I upgraded.

Now I get good video but no audio on any flashplayer site.

The sound is working fine otherwise (for example mplayer and skype are working fine, and Konquerror will play soundfiles I point it at). It is just the damn flashplayer that is mute.

Anyone familiar with a 7 --> 9 upgrade silencing flashplayer?

Where can I find the old version of flashplayer?

Sincerely,

H.

I think flash 9 requires alsa for sound output. Besides checking for alsa working, make sure other sound daemons aren't being used. They could block each other from using /dev/dsp.

It might be a lack of ALSA. I swithced back to OSS since ALSA was not working well with my soundcard (mediocre sound, and the microphone refused to work). Anyway, I removed flash 9 and reinstalled flash flash-plugin-7.0.68-1 from http://rpm.pbone.net/. Now my audio is back to working, but I get no video from www.teteaclaque.tv ....
So back where I started.
