Hello.

Suggest please, how to enable password request in init 1(FC 6).
Seems it is inittab file related issue. But I can't find what should be put in it.

There is no password for init 1, Why would you want to do this

By definition, runlevel 1 is single-user mode (and no networking). Try runlevel 2 (i.e. init 2) if you want multiuser mode (i.e. with password) with little else. See

You can force root's password in init 1 by adding this to /etc/inittab


su:S:wait:/sbin/sulogin

A more popular security method is to password protect grub to prevent unathorised access to the kernel boot parameters (such as init level)
