I'm thinking of buying a 17" LCD monitor.

Is there any advice on buying a LCD monitor?

Will it just work without problem?

Are there certain models that I should keep away from?

My on-board NIC won't work out of the box, I have to manually install the driver. So now I want to make sure the LCD monitor work with FC6 before I buy it.

Open 'System -> Adminstration -> Display' and select 'Hardware' tab, open 'Monitor' pull-down to see all displays that are specifically supported. If your chosen monitor isn't listed, that doesn't mean it won't work, just use 'Generic LCD'. For example I have Philips Brilliance 200W 20.1" widescreen display that works without any problems using 'Generic LCD' as monitor in afore mentioned configuration.

widescreen ones can sometimes require minor configuration, but mostly a screen is a screen. Just watch the connectors (vga or digital) and you should be fine.
